Adam Holmes and The Embers / Baskery

/Tolbooth

One of Scotland’s foremost singer/songwriters and the Swedish Queens of Americana/Roots music bring their 2018 double-headline tour to The Tolbooth for an unmissable night of music.

Adam Holmes and his band The Embers combine the textures of classic artists such as Paul Simon, Tom Petty and Ryan Adams with a hint of Scotland to provide their own brand of soulful roots music. Twice nominated for a BBC Folk award and twice nominated for Scottish Album of the Year their critically acclaimed third album, Midnight Milk, could make it a record three nominations in a row in 2018. They have featured widely on live sessions for BBC Radio 2 and Radio 3, BBC Scotland, Edith Bowman’s BBC Scotland Quay Sessions show and Virgin Radio, amongst many others, and are regulars on the UK and European festival and touring circuit, having shared bills with the likes of Laura Marling, Van Morrison, Richard Thompson, Jason Isbell, The Avett Brothers, Sturgill Simpson and Chvrches amongst many others.

Baskery is a band built on the foundations of Roots and Americana music blended with the energy of punk and the subtlety of classic singer/songwriting. The award-winning Swedish sisters have toured the world and shared festival stages with bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty and Mumford and Sons and have collaborated with high-profile songwriters such as Billy Steinberg (Madonna, The Bangles, (Cyndi Lauper), Joe Henry (John Denver) and Jimmy Harry (Madonna, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears).
